Dolores(Dolly)Herne / East Northport, Long Island, New York
Hi Mischa, I don't know If you remember me from the Class of 1963 from Beverly Hills High School?
We were friends and both lived in Trousdale Estates, North of Sunset Blvd. There is even an
Reunion coming up on Sept 24th in Beverly Hills called "Medicare Reunion of Beverly Hills High. Great Name!! I was known as Dolly then.

You life and career is truly an open book, and what a celebrated accomplishment it is!! I remember when we were in High School, and you used to tell me that you got up three hours before school to practice the piano, and I was amazed then. I believe you said after school you did the same. Obviously, that effort has been rewarded with a wonderful and celebrated world wide career!!

I am really touched by you struggle with your hand disease, and subsequent successful surgery.
I believe God is Good, and along with great medicine and doctors, our greatest Champion is our Creator.

Much has occurred in my life since we last saw each other at graduation on that big three tiered lawn
at Beverly Hills High. I went to college and graduated with several degrees, travelled and lived in Europe and Israel for over a year, and then I really got serious about what I viewed life, hope and faith in our Great God and Creator was all about. This experience propelled me into an entirely unique life and career, involving teaching, performing solo singing around he country, and counseling those hurting and in need. I presently live and work in East Northport, Long Island, New York. I would love to tell you more when you contact me back by E-mail. I also would love to hear about you family(wife, children as well). I never married , nor had any children, but have had a full and rewarding life. My E-mail addres is doloresherne@gmail.com

The real treat was to hear the program repeated on Sunday in a concert hall. To hear the same pieces played in totally different venues was revealing and fascinating.

In April, I was able to attend one of Elena Urioste's "The Lark Ascending" performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Sir Mark Elder, conducting). She played with perfect intonation and beautiful phrase shaping and looked totally relaxed and confident. This was clearly a GREAT performance of a fantastic work for violin and orchestra and the audience knew it. It would have been a very impressive performance by any seasoned violinist, but considering her age it was amazing. I've been a C.S.O. subscriber for decades, and also attend many, many chamber music performances each year so am fortunate to hear a lot of fine music. I'm not easily impressed, but Elena's playing made me sit up and take notice.

I wish her well and hope her career continues to accelerate. Please convey my belated thanks for a wonderful concert performance.

Their performances were engaging and inspiring. They grabbed a hold of the audience with their charm and did not let go until the very end.

I experienced for the first time the artistry and passion of the Sphinx Ensemble and the Harlem Quartet. Never have I been quite so moved as we all sat transfixed by the sounds, sights and spirit of these great artists. I believe my daughter said it best in conversation with the Conductor, Damon Gupton, when she thanked him for "showing someone like me that someone who looks like me can be excellent." I think that says it all for me.

The Harlem String Quartet's concerts this weekend in Raleigh were totally dazzling. I have been going to chamber music concerts for 40 years and their programs this weekend were among the best I have ever heard. On Friday evening they played at a historic African American church. Their performances were engaging and inspiring. They grabbed a hold of the audience with their charm and did not let go until the very end. Haydn, Shostakovich, Duke Ellington and Wynton Marsalis all in one program was breathtaking. They captured all the grace, elegance, and humor of the Haydn with ease. The Shostakovich piece was profoundly moving. They got the depth of the piece perfectly. The jazz pieces were sparkling. The real treat was to hear the program repeated on Sunday in a concert hall. To hear the same pieces played in totally different venues was revealing and fascinating. My wife and I had the privilege of meeting the members of the quartet at a reception on Saturday night. What a treat. Please send my comments on to the members of the quartet and thank them for bringing their splendid talents to Raleigh. This is chamber music at its best!

I saw and heard the Harlem String Quartet at EJThomas Hall in Akron, Ohio last month, and was SO glad I mad the effort to travel to Akron to hear them. They were tremendous. Most impressive. I'm hoping to hear them in Wooster in the not too distant future.

Greetings,
Yesterday you came to the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center in Chesapeake, VA and performed for the library and Thurgood Marshall Elementary School's 5th graders. It was an absolute pleasure to meet such talented and kind musicians. This group has made classical music modern and fun to listen to. I'm hoping to purchase your cd soon. Thank you so much for your wonderful performance!! And with biggest thanks for helping our children to enjoy your music too :)
