Seattle Symphony CD features Michael Brown as piano soloist in Messiaen work recorded live in concert at Benaroya Hall

Michael Brown is featured as piano soloist with the Seattle Symphony in Olivier Messiaen’s Trois petites liturgies de la Présence Divine on that orchestra’s latest CD, released August 18 on its own label, Seattle Symphony Media. The 33-minute work from 1944—a setting of three religious poems by the French composer—was recorded live at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in January 2017 under Music Director Ludovic Morlot, with the orchestra joined by the Northwest Boychoir, Mr. Brown on piano, and Cynthia Millar on ondes Martinot. Paired with Trois petites liturgies on this recording (SSM1016) is Messiaen’s song cycle Poèmes pour Mi, sung by soprano Jane Archibald.
